First One

So I have finally decided to join the land of the bloggers. I have thought about this a lot, especially since I got laid off and don't have my group of "gossip girls" to share my feelings with on my life, or even hear theirs, or just have some adult conversation and stuff during the hour of lunch. I am enjoying my time home with my lil man, don't get me wrong, but I am so itching to go back to work, just sucks the shape of the economy and the lack of administrative assistant jobs out there, and what jobs are out there, at least 30-50 other people are vying for the same job. I went to a seminar the other day, and the new news out there now, during a round of slow economy and lay offs a few years back, employers were hiring all the younger ones and the older job seekers were having a hard time finding work, well this time it is the exact opposite. A lot of employers are seeing that they can get years of experience for the pay they would pay someone with a not so many years of experience. So, with me having around 9 years of experience going up against someone with 15-20 years experience, I basically stand no chance. I am happy my company took care of me. My unemployment has kicked in, and I am back at it, like every morning, going to all the job sites and sending out my resume, even to ones that look not so intriguing. My staffing agency called me yesterday wanting to know if I would be interested in a temp corporate receptionist position while someone was on medical leave. I, of course, said sure. She told me who the client was, and what do you know, it is with the partner company of my old company that laid me off, same building and everything. I am supposed to do a phone interview with them next week. Hopefully they will see my last company on my resume, and it will be a shoe-in, since I already know the building, building/security procedures, a lot of the people there, the phone system, etc. What I am hoping doesn't happen, is that they see the former company and it is an immediate no, since I know people there, and might be a conflict of interest. They had no means in the lay-off, they are two separate companies, but you never know what could happen with that situation. I am hoping for it being a good thing, than it being the latter. Other than that, Tommie might be taking over coaching duties for Sistinas' soccer team. Our current coach's daughter is playing on a select team about 45 minutes away from here and the travel and schedule of her practices and games is becoming too much of a toll on them, so he asked all the dad's if anyone wanted to step up to become coach, because if no one does, the team will be dissolved and all our players that have been together for 3 years, will be put back in a drawing pool next season and will all be separated. No one wants that to happen, but no one would step up, so looks like Tommie is going to be the stand up man, and be his daughters hero. She is excited for daddie to be her coach. I told him he can't be as lazy and just decide not to go to practice like he tends to do, he will have to go to all practices, because I know nothing about soccer, I can't run practices, because he is "too tired from working all day." Hopefully he is making a commitment he can stand up to. I have faith he will, because he is doing it all for Sistinas. Today my goal is to clean my closet. My sister Cassie is having a garage sale for her drill team to raise money for the year and her trip to perform in one of the College Bowl games in Florida, so I am going to see if I have anything to add. Hope everyone has a good day!! Till next time, hope everyone has a great day and all your prayers are answered. God Bless!!
